Bhubaneswar: With the Centre for Environmental Studies (CES), operating under the aegis of the Department of Forest, Environment & Climate Change, Government of Odisha, has been lauded for its exemplary work in environmental education, Director CES Dr.K Murugesan is happy with its incredible success.
The CES was recognized as the Best Implementing Agency for the Environment Education Programme (EEP) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, for the financial year 2024-25. This prestigious honor was conferred upon CES at the National Review Meeting held in New Delhi today.
The National Review Meeting served as a platform for strategizing future endeavors in environmental education across the country. The session was chaired by Nameeta Prasad, the Joint Secretary of MoEF&CC, who acknowledged the significant contributions of various implementing agencies. Notably, three outstanding agencies nationwide were honored for their exceptional performance, with CES, Odisha, securing the top position.
The recognition highlights Odisha’s unwavering commitment and proactive approach towards environmental conservation and the promotion of environmental awareness across the state.
The success and national recognition of CES are also attributed to the pivotal leadership and visionary guidance provided by its Director, Dr. K. Murugesan, Senior Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officer. His dedication and strategic direction have been instrumental in driving the organization’s achievements and establishing it as a national leader in environmental education.
Representatives from CES, Pravat Dash, the Programme Officer, and Prashanta Nayak, the Information Officer, showcased the impactful programmes undertaken by the Centre during the fiscal year 2024-25. Their presentation, delivered through a comprehensive PowerPoint, also outlined the ambitious action plan chalked out for the upcoming year, 2025-26, further emphasizing CES’s dedication to sustainability initiatives.
This accolade not only celebrates the accomplishments of the Centre for Environmental Studies but also underscores Odisha’s growing prominence in the national landscape of environmental stewardship and conservation efforts.
