Bhubaneswar: Lalit Gupta, CMD, Cotton Corporation of India Limited called on Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo at Lok Seva Bhawan here today.
During the meeting there was a detailed discussion about the cotton production, sales system and its problems in the state.
At present, cotton is cultivated on 2.39 lakh hectares of land in Odisha. The target is to produce 40 lakh quintals of cotton this year. Cotton produced in Odisha is one of the best in terms of quality and has also high demand in the market.
During the talk, various issues faced by the farmers in cotton cultivation and its sale were discussed. It also discussed future initiatives to be taken in collaboration with Cotton Corporation of India and the Government of Odisha. CCI will boost Odisha Cotton, said an insider.
Principal Secretary Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhi, CCI Regional Manager T K Das, Additional Director Agriculture J Surya Rao were present on the occasion.
