Bhubaneswar: National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) conducted the training program with support of Department of Urban Development for mapping and developing Urban Water Bodies.
Training program was organized for Corporators, Ward Officers, Municipal Engineers, City Mission Managers and Community Organizers and trained them about mapping and developing urban water bodies.
Almost 45 officials from Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Khordha Municipality, Jatni Municipality and Choudwar Municipality took part in the training held here at Unnati Bhavan which included a field visit to three water bodies in Bhubaneswar.
Senior officials of the H&UD Department, PHEO, CGWB, Town Planning and NIUA-Delhi along with a group of high-level experts provided training. This is in accordance to the departments’ vision and mission of rejuvenating all urban water bodies across the State in a planned and sustainable way.
NIUA has partnered with the H&UD Department for capacity building of Municipal Functionaries of the State under the CITIIS Program of NIUA aided by French Development Agency (AFD) and European Union (EU).
The NIUA- Odisha team is working with the department in this regard to coordinate and carry forward this partnership.
Special Secretary Urban Development, Sagarika Patnaik, former Principal Chief Conservator Forests (PCCF) Ajit Pattanaik, Chief Engineer and Additional Secretary Bhaktakabi Das & Anup Das and Senior Scientist imparted the training program.
