Bhubaneswar : With a vision to position India as a global leader in the Media and Entertainment industry, the Government of India is set to organize the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in May 2025.
The event will serve as a platform to nurture young creative talent and showcase innovations in broadcasting, podcasting, film, radio, animation, graphics, and other creative sectors.
As a precursor to the summit, the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) & Press Information Bureau (PIB), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, in collaboration with KIIT University, organized a special knowledge-sharing session and signature campaign at the university campus in Bhubaneswar.
Speaking at the event, Akhil Kumar Mishra, Additional Director General of CBC & PIB, Bhubaneswar, emphasized the growing role of technology in film, broadcasting, social media, and the audiovisual industry.
He highlighted how WAVES will contribute to the growth and global outreach of India’s media and entertainment sector.
Himanshu Sekhar Khatua, Director General of the School of Film & Media Sciences and an eminent filmmaker, described WAVES as a golden opportunity for young creative minds in broadcasting, media, gaming, and content creation.
He expressed confidence that the event will be a game-changer for the Indian film and media industry.
Dr. Girish Chandra Dash, Director, CBC, underscored that WAVES aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of making India a global hub for media and entertainment.
He added that the event would also provide a significant boost to the concert economy and creative industry.
The event also saw participation from Tripura Mishra, Vice Principal of KISS, and renowned sculptor Adwaita Gadanayak, who expressed their support for the initiative.
Following the session, a signature campaign was organized, with enthusiastic participation from students of the School of Film & Media Sciences, School of Mass Communication, and School of Fashion Technology at KIIT University.
The students registered their support for WAVES, reaffirming their commitment to India’s creative future.
WAVES 2025 is expected to bring together industry leaders, creative professionals, and young talents, setting the stage for India’s rise as a powerhouse in global media and entertainment.
