Cabinet Clears New IT Policy

Bhubaneswar: The new Odisha IT Policy-2025 has been approved by the State Cabinet to advance Odisha’s digital transformation and foster technological innovation. The policy aims to position Odisha as a leading hub for technology and innovation.

Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Ahuja briefed Media about the new IT Policy, which is designed to create direct and indirect employment opportunities for 1 million people in the IT/ITES sector.

It promotes emerging technologies like AI, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, 5G/Mobile Tech, IoT, AR/VR, Deep Learning, and Blockchain.

The policy offers a wide range of incentives including capital and interest subsidies, land and rental support, and SGST reimbursement.

Additional benefits include exemptions on utility charges, marketing support, patent registration incentives, and financial assistance for skill development and internships.

Specific incentives for large and mega IT investments are also part of the plan.

The policy aims to develop world-class infrastructure such as IT parks, IT Towers, and SEZs.

A single-window clearance system and partnerships with global companies will improve the ease of doing business.

A Policy Advocacy & Vision Group (PAVG) will guide policy execution, with the Odisha Computer Applications Centre (OCAC) acting as the Nodal Agency.

The Odisha IT Policy-2025 is expected to attract global businesses.

It aims to boost economic growth and establish the state as a premier hub for global business operations in IT, finance, and R&D.
