Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet has approved a five-year extension for the “Mukhyamantri Adibandha Tiyari Yojana (MATY)-3.0” scheme, running from the fiscal year 2025-26 to 2029-30. The extension has an estimated budget of Rs 2,738.00 crore.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja briefed Media after the Cabinet meeting held here on 1 August, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The scheme is designed to help farmers who rely on temporary cross bunds across streams for irrigation. The plan includes constructing 3,313 new check dams and improving 3,529 existing ones to provide reliable irrigation.
This initiative aims to create an additional irrigation potential of 57,525 hectares and restore the existing irrigation capacity of 41,713 hectares.
In addition to irrigation, the check dams will serve multiple purposes, including providing drinking water to villages during the post-monsoon season, aiding in groundwater recharge, and improving kharif irrigation in areas facing water shortages.
The Cabinet approved amendments to the Orissa District and Civil Courts’ Judicial Staff Services Rules, 2008, and the Odisha Law Officers Rules, 1971. These changes are in response to new criminal laws and are intended to address the shortage of law officers.
The Odisha Food Processing Policy, 2016, was simplified to accelerate investment and job creation in the sector. The new framework will streamline the process for different investment levels.
