Cabinet Clears Culture Cadre

Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, convened its 35th meeting today at the Conference Hall of Lok Seva Bhawan to deliberate on key policy matters. Following the meeting, Chief Secretary Smt. Anu Garg briefed the media regarding the significant administrative decisions and legislative approvals sanctioned by the council of ministers.

A total of 12 proposals from 10 diverse departments received the Cabinet’s seal of approval. The distribution of these approvals included one proposal each from the Departments of Odia Language, Literature and Culture; Industries; Water Resources; Labour and Employees’ State Insurance; Science and Technology; Law; Cooperation; Commerce and Transport; Steel and Mines; and Parliamentary Affairs. Additionally, two proposals submitted by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department were formally approved.

State Cabinet approved a new service cadre titled “Odisha Culture Development Service” was constituted under the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department by restructuring the District Culture Officer cadre and providing them promotional avenues. After approval of the General Administration & Public Grievance Department, Finance Department and Law Department, the cadre rule has been duly approved by the Odisha Public Service Commission. Also, approval of the Hon’ble Chief Minister has been obtained in the matter.

In the present context of promoting Odia literature and culture and in view of the various developmental and promotional initiatives being undertaken in this sector, Culture Development Officers plays a vital role in effectively implementing programmes at the grassroot level, while also addressing emerging challenges related to the preservation and promotion of culture.

A primary highlight of the meeting was the formal endorsement of the schedule for the 6th session of the 17th Legislative Assembly. This upcoming assembly session is slated to commence on February 17, marking a crucial period for legislative business and state governance. The approved proposals across various sectors signify the government’s focus on infrastructure development, cultural preservation, and administrative efficiency.
