Bright Future For Cricket; OCA VP

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cricket Association(OCA) Vice President (VP) Pankaj Lochan Mohanty is happy with the massive Renovation and Redevelopment of Iconic Barabati Stadium. This will brighten up the future of cricket and cricketers in Odisha, said he.

Shri Mohanty was talking to Media on 28 February about the bright future of Cricket in Odisha. He said that the State Government has always given priority for Sports Development across the State under dynamic leadership of Chief Minister.

OCA Vice President Shri Mohanty also said that 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman Kartik Pandian has been spearheading Sports Promotion in a big way for which youth of the State of Odisha will be benefitted and they will be able get chance in Test Matches, IPL T20 etc.

Secretary Sports and Youth Services, R Vineel Krishna has been sincerely executing massive infrastructure projects on Sports across the State, said Shri Mohanty.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the renovation and redevelopment of the historic Barabati stadium at Cuttack and VSS Cricket Stadium in Sambalpur. 5T and Nabin Odisha Chief Kartik Pandian, Minister Sports and Youth Services Tushar Kanti Behera and OCA President Pranab Prakash Das graced the occasion.

OCA Vice President Shri Mohanty honored ace Indian Crickteer Irfan Pathan in presence of Ashirbad Behera, former Secretary OCA.

OCA Vice President, Shri Mohanty has been expressing his happiness as the Chief Minister Shri Patnaik has assured said the Barabati stadium will be redeveloped into a world-class sports complex with all the modern facilities, in partnership with BCCI, OCA and Corporates.

OCA Vice President Shri Mohanty said Chief Minister Shri Patnaik considering the legacy of the stadium, has assured that the iconic clock tower will be conserved as a heritage structure.

Besides, the VSS stadium in Sambalpur will be expanded and developed with the best cricket facilities for the sportspersons in the region, he added.

Shri Mohanty welcomed IPL Governing Council Chairman Arun Singh Dhumal. Shri Dhumal assured all support for the development of Cricket in Odisha.

OCA Vice President Shri Mohanty said that Chief Minister also inaugurated cricketing facilities at Berhampur Sports Complex, Shree Jagannath Cricket Stadium and Women’s Cricket Academy at Puri, Sports Complex in Jajpur and cricket ground at Jharsuguda. He also dedicated 41 cricket academies developed across the state by the OCA.

OCA Vice President Shri Mohanty said the Chief Minister has underscored that the focus on cricket by the State Government and OCA will help in creating a good ecosystem for emergence of champions from the state in the coming years.
