Brave Constable Saves Life

Cuttack: A dramatic rescue unfolded at Cuttack Railway Station this morning as Constable/1 Tulu Behera of the Odisha Police demonstrated exceptional bravery and quick thinking, saving the life of a passenger who slipped while attempting to board a moving train.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:05 a.m. when Md. Mujahir, a 44-year-old resident of Mirjapur, Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal, was trying to board the departing Train No. 22503 (Kanyakumari–Dibrugarh Express) bound for Kishanganj. In a terrifying turn of events, Shri Mujahir lost his footing and slipped from the train’s steps, plummeting dangerously close to the gap between the platform edge and the wheels of the moving train.

In a heart-stopping moment, Constable Shri Behera, who was on duty, witnessed the perilous situation. Without hesitation, he sprang into action. With remarkable presence of mind and courage, he swiftly grabbed Md. Mujahir’s hands and pulled him out of the deadly gap, literally snatching him from near-certain death.

Constable Shri Behera’s heroic intervention has garnered widespread praise. Y B Khurania, DGP, Odisha, has announced a reward of ₹2,500 for Constable Shri Behera in recognition of his extraordinary bravery.

Additionally, Arun Bothra, ADG, Coastal Security and Railways, personally spoke to Constable Shri Behera, commending him on his courage and presence of mind during the critical incident.

This act of selfless bravery by Constable Tulu Behera serves as a powerful reminder of the dedication and quick thinking of our police force in ensuring public safety.
