Bhubaneswar: The Biju Patnaik National Steel Institute (BPNSI), a body under the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, recently held a one-day Knowledge Sharing Workshop at the Orissa Metaliks Private Limited (OMPL) plant in Jharsuguda.
The event was designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of OMPL’s working professionals.
The workshop was inaugurated by senior OMPL officials, including Shri Alok Awasthi, Associate Vice President – Commercial, and Shri Ranjit Kumar Biswal, General Manager (HR, IR, and Admin).
Representing BPNSI, Prof. Satyapriya Satapathy delivered the inaugural address and outlined the day’s program. The technical session commenced with a lecture by Dr. Rama Krushna Sabata, Associate Professor from IIT Bhubaneswar, who shared his expertise on the “Emerging Technologies of DRI (Direct Reduced Iron) Production Process.”
The Knowledge Sharing Workshop organized by the Biju Patnaik National Steel Institute (BPNSI) at Orissa Metaliks Private Limited (OMPL) in Jharsuguda was part of a larger initiative to enhance expertise in the steel sector.
BPNSI is a central government society established by the Ministry of Steel in 2001. Its primary objective is to develop the steel sector, with a specific focus on the Secondary Steel Sector.
The institute offers training programs to create a skilled workforce and also provides technical consultancy to steel plants to help them implement energy-efficient manufacturing processes. BPNSI’s courses are designed in consultation with the industry to meet their specific needs.
