BPNSI Mantra For JSL Team

Kalinga Nagar: A specialized Knowledge Sharing Workshop has kicked off at Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL), Jajpur, as part of the Professional Pre-Program of the Biju Patnaik National Steel Institute (BPNSI), an entity under the Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India.

This workshop is specifically designed for JSL’s Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs) and Post Graduate Engineer Trainees (PGETs).

The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Rakesh Pathak, AVP (HR) of JSL, who lauded BPNSI for its commitment to enhancing the skills and knowledge of professionals within the steel industry. This initiative is a crucial step in upskilling the workforce, a responsibility that BPNSI has embraced for the benefit of the country’s iron and steel sector.

The workshop featured a series of expert-led sessions covering critical aspects of modern steel manufacturing.

Prof. (Dr.) Ramakrushna Sabat, Associate Professor at IIT, Bhubaneswar, delivered an insightful session on “Steel Quality Management and Alloying Techniques.” Participants gained a deeper understanding of the metallurgical principles that govern steel properties and how alloying elements are used to achieve specific performance characteristics.

Prof. (Dr.) Amritendu Roy, also an Associate Professor at IIT, Bhubaneswar, focused on the “Steel Refining Process in Ladle Refining Process and Equipment Failures.” This session provided practical knowledge on the advanced refining techniques used to produce high-quality steel and the common causes and prevention of equipment failures in a high-temperature environment.

In addition to the main sessions, Prof. Satyapriya Satapathy, Senior Assistant Professor at BPNSI, addressed the participants, offering valuable insights into the pressing topic of Decarbonization and Process Transition in Steel Industries. His presentation highlighted the latest trends and challenges in reducing the carbon footprint of steel production, a key priority for the future of the industry.

The workshop, attended by GETs and PGETs from JSL’s Kalinga Nagar plant, provided a rich learning experience and strengthened the collaborative efforts between academia and industry.

Shri Shyam Tripathy, AGM (HR) of JSL, was also present, further emphasizing the company’s support for this educational initiative.
