New Delhi: Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, on Monday, June 23, 2025, chaired the 47th Empowered Committee Meeting to review proposals under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK).
The crucial meeting focused on assessing development projects from four states: Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
The PMJVK is a flagship scheme of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of minorities and providing basic amenities in identified Minority Concentration Areas (MCAs).
The program focuses on creating essential infrastructure, particularly in the sectors of education, health, and skill development, to bridge development gaps and promote inclusive growth.
During the 47th Empowered Committee Meeting, detailed proposals submitted by the respective state governments were thoroughly scrutinized.
The committee, under the leadership of Dr. Kumar, evaluated the projects based on their potential impact on the targeted communities and their alignment with PMJVK’s objectives of reducing disparities and enhancing the quality of life in MCAs.
The review of proposals from these diverse states underscores the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring equitable development across the nation, particularly in regions with significant minority populations.
The outcomes of this meeting are expected to pave the way for the implementation of new projects that will contribute to the overall progress and empowerment of minority communities in Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
