Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the Managing Officer of the East Coast Railway Community Centre for dumping waste at public places. Not only this, the Railway Staff Benefit Community Hall at Mancheswar, which had dumped wet and dry waste, was sealed in the presence of BMC Commissioner, Vijay Amruta Kulange.
This morning, the Commissioner BMC made a surprise visit to Ward 9 area. During a visit to the community hall and market area in Mancheswar area of the Railways, they found wet, dry and plastic waste scattered on the roadside. In particular, it was clear that the wet, dry and plastic waste coming out of the community hall had been deliberately dumped on the roadside.
The BMC Commissioner had directed that the community hall be sealed on the spot after it was found that the staff in charge of the community centre of the East Coast Railway was handling the waste in a shoddy manner.
The rule of segregation of waste wet and dry has been strictly implemented for all kalyan mandaps and community halls in the BMC area and will be applicable in this regard as well.
Despite repeated and various means of awareness, if the authorities, event agencies or individuals do not implement the waste management rules or inform the BMC on the Safa Bhubaneswar App; Then strict action will be taken against the concerned organisations or individuals,” commissioner Rokthok said.
According to the rules, the Safa Bhubaneswar app has to be used to lift the waste. You have to pay the required fees for this. This is because dumping of waste is affecting the living standards of the common citizen. The BMC had said that the railway community hall will remain closed till the fine is collected.
Ten hours after the sealing, the Secretary of the Community Hall Managing Committee deposited Rs 1 lakh with the BMC. The BMC later removed the seal from the community hall.
