Blind Kids Win Wipro Award

Bhubaneswar: In a historic first for the Wipro Earthian national competition, a team of visually impaired students from Odisha has proven that environmental stewardship knows no physical boundaries.

Representing the Louis Braille School for the Blind, four talented students secured a position among the top 20 winning schools at the prestigious event held at Azim Premji University in Bengaluru.

Their achievement marks a significant milestone as they became the only institution for the visually impaired to receive this honor out of a pool of roughly 2,200 participating schools nationwide.

The project that captured the attention of the national jury focused on the intersection of sustainability and water conservation. Developed with technical guidance from the organization Vision Empower, the initiative showcased practical and innovative solutions for maintaining ecological balance.

During the annual awards ceremony, the students were recognized for their ability to translate complex environmental concepts into an actionable and impactful framework, earning praise from global sustainability leaders and academic heads alike.

The ceremony featured prominent figures including Narayan P.S., Global Head of Sustainability at Wipro Limited, and Anurag Behar, Managing Trustee of the Wipro Foundation.

By rising to the top of such a massive and competitive field, these students have not only brought pride to Odisha but have also redefined what is possible in the realm of inclusive education.

Their success serves as a powerful reminder that the responsibility of protecting our planet’s resources is a shared human endeavor, fueled more by vision and dedication than by sight.
