Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) spokesperson Dibya Shankar Mishra has strongly criticized the central government’s attempt to privatize the Bhubaneswar airport through a press release today.
Answering a question of BJD Rajya Sabha MP Niranjan Bishi in the Rajya Sabha today, Union Minister of State explained that it has been decided to privatize India’s 25 airports, including Bhubaneswar International Airport by 2025.
Shri Mishra said that “The central government’s decision to privatize Bhubaneswar airport is totally unacceptable. Bhubaneswar Airport is named after the proverbial man Biju Patnaik, while this airport is a symbol of Odisha’s Swaviman and Asmita”.
While it is one of the major airports in eastern India, the decision to privatize it is definitely a blow to our people and Asmita, Shri Mishra said. Moreover, privatization will affect the aviation and other economic activities going on here.
Similarly, the aviation training center running at this airport is also threatened to be closed. The Biju Janata Dal is totally against the privatization decision and the Lawmaker demanded that the Central Government should reconsider its decision.
