Bhubaneswar:Alleging BJD and BJP are together, Congress today conducted a satirical marriage ceremony between the two parties here at Master Canteen.
The Congress leaders alleged that the ruling BJD and BJP of having a live-in relationship for the last 23 years. So, they conducted their marriage ceremony.
The members of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the Student Wing of the Congress which organized the ceremony before the Congress Bhawan here, even erected a mandap, distributed marriage cards, organized a barat party and a feast on the occasion.
The Congress had organized a similar marriage of BJP and BRS in Telangana before the Assembly election last year.
AICC leader and in-charge of Odisha Congress Ajoy Kumar alleged that both the BJD and the Congress had a tacit understanding and supporting each other on many issues.
“Both BJD and BJP were in a live-in relationship for 23 years and today we are now making it official by performing their marriage”, said Dr.Kumar.
The BJD has supported the BJP government whenever an anti-people bill was brought to the Parliament, he further alleged.
In the marriage mandap, the groom was wearing a BJP mask on his face while the bride’s face was covered with a BJD mask.
Beating drums and chanting mantras, the Congress activists solemnised the humorous wedding in Hindu tradition here at busy Master Canteen Square. The Congress workers wore the face mask of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Dharmendra Pradhan, Smriti Irani and other BJP leaders.
Student Congress President Yasser Nawaj alleged that the bonding between the BJP and the BJD is so strong that neither the ED nor the CBI is investigating the Chit Fund scam, CBI scam and Mining scam in the state.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Sarat Pattanayak said, “The BJD and BJP are together and they made Odisha one of the poorest states in the country. People of the state will not tolerate them more and they are with the Congress. Congress is the only alternative in Odisha.”
Both the BJP and the BJD have reacted to the so called marriage party organised by the Congress workers stating that the Congress is resorting to such a cheap and desperate act knowing fully that it had no support of the people and will witness a major setback in Odisha politics.
