Bhubaneswar: The Governing Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced names of another nine MLA candidates. So far, the party has announced candidates for 108 MLA and 20 MP seats.
The party has re-nominated Sarada Prasad Nayak for Rourkela, Sworup Kumar Das for Balasore and Prasant Behera for Salepur MLA seats. Former MLA Prakash Behera, who recently joined the BJD after resigning from BJP, has been given ticket for Barabati Cuttack seat.
Similarly, Rohit Joseph Tirkey, son of senior tribal leader George Tirkey, has been given party ticket for Biramitrapur MLA segment. Rohit has joined the BJD very recently.
Raisen Murmu, who took VRS from DSP post and joined the BJD four month back, has been nominated for Rairangpur MLA seat.
Besides, the BJD has nominated Sudarshan Haripal for Rengali MLA segment, Meena Majhi for Keonjhar and Naba Kishore Mallick for Jaydev seat. Naba Mallick had contested the last assembly election in 2019 independently and got a good amount of votes. So, the party has picked him to fight against BJP nominee Arabinda Dhali.
