Konark: Acharya Bharat Muni, the great Indian theatrologist and musicologist, was remembered by Sanskar Bharati Odisha on Magha Purnima day, which is known as his commemoration day.
Acharya Bharat (Bharat Muni) has written the ancient text of Natya Shastra; and is also considered as the Father of Indian Theatrical Art Forms.
The celebration aimed to honour Bharat Muni’s contributions to the rich cultural heritage of India.
The event organised here in the auditorium of Yatri Nivas of Konark featured various cultural programmes, including classical Odissi dance, Sambalpuri dance, traditional music recitals etc.
Eminent artists and scholars like Prof Dr. Prafulla Mishra, former Chancellor of Rajendra Prasad Agricultural University, Dr. Haramohan Mishra, former Director of Sri Jagannath Sanskrit University, Prof Khirod Ray Mohapatra, RSS veteran Samir Mohanty, Dr. Santanu Rath, Odisha State head of Sanskar Bharati and well-known Odissi exponent Dr Snehaprava Samantaray, and office-bearers of Sanskar Bharati Odisha gathered to pay tribute to Bharat Muni’s legacy.
In a statement, Sanjay Baral, spokesperson for Sanskar Bharati Odisha, emphasized the importance of preserving India’s cultural heritage and promoting its rich traditions. The commemoration day celebration served as a platform to promote cultural awareness and appreciation among the younger generation. More than 300 artists of the State joined the celebration.
