Bhubaneswar: The State Government has removed Minati Behera from the post of State Commission for Women (SCW) Chairperson.
The Women and Child Development Department has issued a notification in this regard on Saturday.
As per the notification, the department had earlier issued a show cause notice to Shrimati Behera for showing ‘unsatisfactory’ performance during her tenure and asked her to submit the reply by 4 pm of November 1.
“After thorough and careful examination of the show cause reply submitted by the Chairperson, OSCW, it is observed that the reply is inadequate and does not justify the unsatisfactory performance of the Commission,” the notification said.
In view of above facts and circumstances, the State Government hereby orders the removal of Behera, it said.
Shrimati Behera, a former President of Biju Mahila Janata Dal (BMJD), was appointed as Chairperson of SCW in September 2022 by the previous BJD Government.
Though the BJP Government has announced to remove her from the post, she continued in the position and attending office. Later, the Department issued her a showcause notice and later removed her.
