Bhubaneswar: The ‘Beating the Retreat’ ceremony was held on 31 January under the Chief Hospitality of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
ACS Home Satyabrata Sahu, DGP Y B Khurania, Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh shared the dais.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, along with senior officials and invited guests were present in the beating the retreat ceremony.
The National flag was taken down with respect after saluting and was kept safe.
Several musical compositions were presented in the program before the Chief Minister.
Band Display was organised after the Police Brass Band Concert.
Musical presentations were given in the band concert. Restraint, discipline and uniformity were the main attractions of the band presentations.
It is worth mentioning that “Beating Retreat” is an ancient military tradition, as soon as the bugle calls for “Retreat” in a war, the fighting soldiers would put down their weapons and leave the battlefield.
The colours, standard covers and flags used in the war were taken down at the “Retreat”.
With the completion of the program, the Republic Day celebrations were completed.
