Bhubaneswar: Investigations are ongoing in the horrific Balanga minor girl burn case, with Puri SP Pinak Mishra confirming no breakthrough yet. A specialized police team is diligently probing the incident using scientific methods, and crucial evidence has been collected, with an outcome expected soon.
The 15-year-old victim, who suffered severe burn injuries after being allegedly set ablaze by miscreants in Balanga, was initially admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar and later airlifted to AIIMS Delhi for advanced treatment.
Preliminary investigations suggest the attack was premeditated, with three youths reportedly abducting her to the banks of the Bhargavi River before dousing her with an inflammable substance and setting her on fire.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage and prompted political condemnation across the state. Police have questioned several individuals and are examining CCTV footage, though no arrests have been made so far.
Meanwhile, Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida provided an update on the Puri sexual assault victim, stating that the victim has undergone two surgeries and is currently receiving skin grafting from a skin bank.
Smt.Parida indicated that the victim is gradually recovering and is expected to take 40-50 days for a full recovery. The government has also reviewed the compensation provided to the victim. The state government has announced that it will bear all expenses for the victim’s treatment.
