Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Health Minister are scheduled to launch the centre’s Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in State on 11 April.
Shri Majhi and Shri Nadda jointly launched the scheme in Cuttack in a mega event. This was informed by Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling on 5 April.
Speaking to media persons after reviewing the preparations made for the launching event at Upper Bali Jatra ground, Dr.Mahaling said Union Ministers from Odisha, Dharmendra Pradhan, Ashwini Vaishnaw and Jual Oram will also attend the programme.
The Ayushman Bharat scheme will be rolled out in convergence with the state sponsored Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY), he said.
Nearly about 3.50 crore people out of 4.50 crore in Odisha will get benefit of the scheme. The beneficiaries will get free treatment in 29,000 registered private and government hospitals across the country. Earlier, the facility was available in only 900 hospitals, he informed.
Hitting out at the previous BJD government, the Minister said, “They (BJD) have not implemented the Ayushman Bharat scheme for their political reasons. Now, the poor people of Odisha will benefit from the central scheme.”
In addition, the Centre’s ‘Ayushman Vayo-Vandana Yojana’ will also be implemented in Odisha for all persons aged 70 years and above, irrespective of their economic status. This will enable them to get free treatment worth Rs 5 lakh per family per year, he said.
Recently, the State Cabinet had approved a budgetary allocation of Rs 27,019.25 crore for implementation of centre’s Ayushman Bharat and state sponsored Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana for a period of five years (2025-26 to 2029-30).
