Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Secretariat Training Institute (OSTI) today marked the valedictory session of a training program for Assistant Section Officers (ASOs). The address was delivered by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Shri Satyabrata Sahu, who emphasized the crucial role of the ASOs in the state’s governance.
Shri Sahu stated that the ASOs are the “nerve centre” of the State Administration and called upon them to recognize the significance of their daily work. He reiterated the commitment of the Odisha Government to provide better facilities and a conducive working environment for officers of the State Secretariat.
The ACS highlighted the State Government’s determined push to improve the quality of governance. A key initiative mentioned was the plan to utilize the expertise of retired government officials to guide and mentor the current workforce, sharing their wealth of experience.
A specific area for improvement stressed by Shri Sahu was the quality of noting in files, urging officers to be precise, comprehensive, and clear in their documentation. He concluded his address by advising the ASOs to always consider the “Last Mile Impact” of government development programs, ensuring that the intended benefits reach the citizens effectively.
