Bhubaneswar: In a massive boost to regional connectivity, industrial logistics, and economic growth in southern Odisha, the State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, has officially approved four major road infrastructure tenders totaling over 538 crore rupees. Executed under the State Plan by the Works Department, all four critical infrastructure packages were awarded to Ashribad Eng. & Constructions Pvt. Ltd. as the lowest tenderer.
Headed by Managing Director Shri Abinash Dash, Ashribad Eng. & Constructions Pvt. Ltd. has emerged as a key engineering, procurement, and construction company in Eastern India.
The transformative infrastructure drive is being spearheaded under the administrative leadership of Principal Secretary Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, who has been steering the Works Department toward accelerating high-impact road networks, ensuring strict timeline adherence, and enhancing multi-modal transport efficiency across the state.
The four approved infrastructure projects target the upgrading, widening, and strengthening of key transport corridors in Rayagada district from two-lane to four-lane configurations, with execution timelines set for 24 months each:
- Rayagada to Kereda Road Corridor (MDR-48B): Upgrading 25.166 kilometers from two-lane to four-lane under an estimated project cost of 186.19 crore rupees. The cabinet approved Ashribad Group’s tender amounting to 126.94 crore rupees. The project will cut travel time by 50 percent, from 60 minutes to 30 minutes, while dramatically bolstering first-and-last-mile connectivity to the Rayagada Railway Division.
- Komtalpeta-Muniguda-Tumudibandha Road Corridor (SH-5 Phase I): Widening and strengthening from 0/000 km to 30/000 km. Against an estimated cost of 214.71 crore rupees, Ashribad Group secured the project with a bid of 147.10 crore rupees. Designed for speeds up to 80 km/h, it connects Rayagada headquarters, Bisam Cuttack, and Muniguda NAC to Kandhamal and Kalahandi districts.
- Komtalpeta-Muniguda-Tumudibandha Road Corridor (SH-5 Phase II): Widening and strengthening stretches totaling over 30 kilometers from 30/000 km to 45/615 km and 52/770 km to 68/055 km, along with 6,340 meters of existing road strengthening (excluding the proposed Bisamcuttack By-Pass Road). Against an estimated cost of 201.48 crore rupees, the cabinet approved Ashribad Group’s bid of 133.79 crore rupees. The project directly benefits 23 villages across Rayagada.
- Bhawanipatna-Muniguda Road Corridor (SH-6): Upgrading from 37/340 km to 63/650 km, including 3,930 meters of road strengthening and excluding the Ambodala By-Pass Road. Against an estimated cost of 196.18 crore rupees, Ashribad Group’s tender was approved at 130.68 crore rupees. The corridor directly benefits 29 villages in Muniguda Tahasil, linking western Odisha to Visakhapatnam Port, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and Paradip.

Socio-Economic Impact These four upgraded corridors serve as the lifeline for major industrial houses in the region, including JK Paper Mills, IMFA, Vedanta Aluminium, and Utkal Alumina. By facilitating efficient raw material and finished product transport to ports like Visakhapatnam, the projects significantly lower logistics costs. Furthermore, the roads will improve direct access to essential services for thousands of local residents, a large percentage of whom belong to Scheduled Tribes, while ensuring safer transit to the ancient Maa Majhighariani shrine to boost local religious tourism.
