New Delhi: Shri Raj Kumar Arora, a 1990-batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), assumed the charge of Financial Advisor (Defence Services) [FADS] today. His appointment places a veteran administrator at the apex of the Ministry of Defence’s financial structure.
Shri Arora brings a wealth of experience spanning defence acquisition, financial policy, accounting, audit, budgeting, and personnel management, which will be crucial in overseeing the fiscal operations of the country’s defence establishment.
Prior to this new role as FADS, Shri Arora was serving as the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA).
His long and distinguished career includes a number of important positions across the Government of India, demonstrating his extensive domain knowledge and administrative depth: Additional Secretary in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Finance Manager (Air) in the Acquisition Wing of the Ministry of Defence, a role vital for managing defence procurement, Director in the Ministry of Finance, Member (Finance) in the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board and Integrated Financial Advisor in various Commands and field offices of the Defence Accounts Department.
The experience gained through these diverse roles is expected to significantly contribute to the Ministry of Defence’s ongoing efforts to enhance financial discipline, transparency, and resource management within the defence sector.
