New Delhi: Firebrand BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi meeting Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the Parliament House has raised many eyebrows.
While after long years, BJD Supremo visited Parliament to meet BJD MPs, and Ms.Sarangi came down to meet Mr.Patnaik.
Neither, Aswini Vaishnaw, Minister Railways nor Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister Education came down to meet Odisha Chief Minister.
While Mr.Vaishnaw has been blessed by Chief Minister Mr.Patnaik with a Rajya Sabha seat, it was expected that Union Minister, who is representing Odisha in Rajya Sabha will come down to meet Mr.Patnaik.
But it did not happen, however, Ms.Sarangi talked to Chief Minister. Both exchanged pleasantries.
Later CM Mr.Patnaik said that there has been no discussion on presidential elections and neither the government nor the opposition has approached the BJD over it.
He visited Parliament on Tuesday and held a meeting with his party MPs from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. He was welcomed by all BJD MPs at the entry gate of Parliament.
Interacting with reporters, Mr.Patnaik said, “I have come to Parliament to meet my party MPs and to take up the developmental schemes of Odisha.”
Asked whether there should be a consensus between the government and opposition over a presidential candidate, Patnaik said, “I haven’t given a thought to it. There is time for presidential elections and no one has approached us so far.”
Mr.Patnaik held a brief meeting with his party MPs in the BJD office in Parliament.
