Bhubaneswar: The State Government has initiated the process for preparation of Annual Budget for the financial year 2025-26, which is likely to be presented before the Assembly sometime in February, 2025.
State Budget Director Satya P Rath has written a letter to all Additional Chief Secretaries (ACSs), Principal Secretaries, and Secretaries to Government seeking materials for Budget Speech of Governor and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who is in charge of the Finance Department.
The Governor will address the House at the commencement of its first session of the year 2025. The address contains the review of past activities and achievements during the previous year and proposed policy of the Government for the coming financial year 2025-26, Rath said in the letter.
“Budget Estimates for Financial Year 2025-26 are likely to be presented in the Odisha Legislative Assembly during the month of February, 2025. The Chief Minister will deliver the Budget Speech at the time of budget presentation highlighting the major initiatives and achievements during the previous year, Government policy and priorities for the coming years and targets under flagship schemes for the Budget Year 2025-26 as well as in the medium term,” he wrote.
The Departments were asked to submit materials highlighting the achievements of last five years and proposed policy /action to be taken during FY 2025-26 before December 30.
The achievements with physical targets and financial targets in terms of completion of projects and improvement in delivery of services should also be indicated, he said.
In his first budget, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had presented an annual budget of Rs 2.65 lakh crore for 2024-25 in July and a supplementary budget of Rs 12,156 crore in the Assembly.
The BJP government would present another full-fledged budget in February with an enhanced outlay with sufficient allocation to newly announced schemes. The government may also come with some new programmes and schemes, sources said.
