Bhubaneswar: In a pioneering initiative for eastern India, SUM Ultimate Medicare (SUMUM) successfully organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program, AndroXcell 2025, on Sunday. The one-day workshop was dedicated to addressing the often-unspoken topics of male sexual dysfunction and infertility, aiming to equip healthcare professionals with the latest advancements and clinical insights in andrology.
The event, which brought together a host of eminent faculties and delegates from across the nation, was graced by Dr. Vijay Oza, President of the National Medical Commission, Delhi, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Oza highlighted the limited presence of andrology in the current health education framework and announced upcoming reforms to ensure the subject receives greater emphasis, including specialized training and qualifications.
Prof. (Dr.) Datteswar Hota, a senior Urologist and Andrologist and the Scientific Program Chairman of the event, stated that the program’s objective was to raise awareness about male sexual health, a subject that has long been a societal taboo. He emphasized that the workshop was a crucial first step toward equipping doctors with the knowledge to identify, address, and treat these concerns effectively.
Brig (Dr.) Biraj Mohan Mishra, Chief of Medical Services at SUMUM, echoed this sentiment, calling the event a significant step toward changing societal attitudes. He noted that by hosting this event, SUMUM was reinforcing its commitment to bringing andrology into mainstream healthcare and strengthening its scope within the hospital.
Dr. Swetapadma Dash, CEO of SUMUM and Patron of AndroXcell 2025, underscored the hospital’s philosophy of addressing all aspects of human well-being. “This is not just an event; it is the beginning of a much-needed conversation in our state,” she said, stressing the importance of breaking the silence around male sexual health issues.
Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak, Founder President of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhaan Deemed to be University and Chief Patron of the event, stated that AndroXcell 2025 reflects the institution’s commitment to advancing medical knowledge and fostering innovation.
