Bhubaneswar: ACS Revenue & Disaster Management and Special Relief Commissioner Satyabrata Sahu has alerted Four District Magistrates on heavy rainfall and preparedness.
With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today said another fresh low pressure area is likely to formed over Bay of Bengal during next 24 hours, SRC Shri Sahu has alerted the Collectors.
“The cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal & adjoining south Bangladesh extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height persists. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form during the next 24 hours,” IMD’s Bhubaneswar centre said.
Under its impact, the weather office has forecast heavy rain in the state during the next few days. Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) would occur in the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Deogarh, and Bargarh on Friday.
Rough to very rough sea condition is very likely to prevail over North Bay of Bengal during the next 12 hours. Therefore, the fishermen have been advised not to venture into North Bay of Bengal during the next 12 hours.
Noting that there is heavy rainfall in the Bolangir, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur and Puri districts and possibility of low visibility, submergence of roads/ bridges and inundation of low-lying areas, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Satyabrata Sahu asked District Collectors, “It is instructed to use pumps for dewatering, clearance of the drainage channel and evacuate people of the low lying areas if required.
He also directed the collectors to keep administrative machinery ready to face any eventuality.
