Agri Odisha To Plant 23 Lakh Saplings.

Bhubaneswar: In a massive green drive, the Odisha government’s Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department is set to plant over 23 lakh saplings as part of the statewide ‘Mother’s Tree’ (Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam) initiative. This ambitious program aims to plant a total of 75 lakh trees across the state on the 17th of this month.

Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment has been instrumental in spearheading the department’s contribution, urging officers across all districts to participate actively and plant at least one sapling each.

The saplings will be planted on the premises of all offices under the Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department and the Directorate of Soil Conservation and Horticulture.

The Directorate of Soil Conservation and Directorate of Horticulture is providing all 23 lakh saplings, ensuring a coordinated effort. To track the progress and participation, all officers have been instructed to take a photo of their planted sapling and upload it to the MeriLiFE portal.

“Let us give the earth a green gift with the joint efforts of all,” stated Dr. Padhee, emphasizing the collaborative spirit of the initiative. This drive underscores the Odisha government’s commitment to environmental sustainability and showcases the agricultural sector’s proactive role in combating climate change and promoting a greener future.

The initiative aligns with broader efforts to increase the state’s green cover and foster a sense of shared responsibility among citizens.
