Bhubaneswar: State is gearing up to host the Regional Agriculture Conference 2026 for the Eastern Region on 19 May. Shri Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav, Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, confirmed that Odisha will serve as the host state for this high-level conventional meet, which will see active participation from the eastern states of Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.
The event will be graced by Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi and Deputy Chief Minister Shri K V Singh Deo emphasizing the high-level policy commitment toward transforming the agrarian economy.
In alignment with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the primary objective of these Zonal Conferences is to further strengthen Centre–State coordination and ensure the effective implementation of central schemes in accordance with local requirements. This regional platform marks a significant initiative toward making agriculture more advanced, modern, and profitable.
Key focus areas of the deliberations will include the Aatmanirbhar Dalhan Mission, National Edible Oil Mission, Natural Farming Mission, and the Digital Agriculture Mission. The conference will also facilitate the identification of ground-level implementation challenges, enabling timely resolution through collaborative decision-making between central and state authorities.
In addition to addressing challenges, the forum will serve as a knowledge-sharing arena. Successful models adopted by participating states in critical areas such as irrigation efficiency, fertilizer distribution networks, agri-stack development, horticulture advancement, and value chain management will be presented. By highlighting these successful case studies, the conference aims to enable the replication of best practices across the entire region, paving the way for innovative, sustainable agricultural growth and enhanced prosperity for farmers.
