Adapa Darshan Flows Smoothly

Puri: Devotees in Puri are experiencing a smooth and spiritually fulfilling “Adapa Darshan” of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra at the Adapa Mandap within the Shree Gundicha Temple. Adding to the calm atmosphere, the weather in Puri has remained surprisingly cool and pleasant, a stark contrast to the heavy rains witnessed in many other parts of Odisha. This clement weather is certainly contributing to the comfort of the multitude of pilgrims.

Following the ceremonial “Adapa Mandap Bije” (entry) of the Holy Trinity into their aunt’s abode yesterday, the temple premises have been bustling with pilgrims eager to receive divine blessings.

Despite a recent unfortunate incident that occurred near the Shree Gundicha Temple, the district administration and temple authorities have implemented even stricter security measures and crowd management strategies to ensure a seamless flow of devotees. Barricades and separate queues have been set up, allowing thousands to have a hassle-free glimpse of the sibling deities seated on the ‘Adapa Mandap’ – the special podium.

The Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) of Srimandir are now hyper-active, working in close coordination with the Odisha Police to maintain order. Their increased vigilance and presence are palpable, adding an extra layer of reassurance for the devotees. This heightened state of alertness comes in the wake of the recent incident, with authorities determined to prevent any recurrence and ensure the safety of all pilgrims.

The “Adapa Mandap” holds immense religious significance, often referred to as the ‘Janmabedi’ or birthplace of Lord Jagannath and His siblings. Scriptures like the Bamadev Samhita and Skanda Purana emphasize the profound spiritual merit of having “Darshan” at this revered spot during the Rath Jatra period. It is widely believed that a single glimpse of the deities on the Adapa Mandap can absolve sins accumulated over a hundred births, offering devotees a unique opportunity for spiritual liberation.

Adding to the spiritual experience, devotees will also have the opportunity to partake in the “Adapa Abhada,” the special Mahaprasad prepared at the Gundicha Temple during the Lords’ stay. This cooked food, offered to the deities, is considered exceptionally sacred. This time Abadha is being prepared with ‘Divine Rice’ Amruta Anna. Organic Rice from Koraput is utilized for preparation of “Adapa Abadha”.

Rituals are proceeding as per schedule, with “Mangal Aarti” performed this morning, witnessed by a large congregation. The deities will reside at the Shree Gundicha Temple until July 5th, when they will embark on their “Bahuda Jatra” (return journey) to the Shree Jagannath Temple.

The smooth conduct of “Adapa Darshan” underscores the unwavering faith of devotees and the diligent efforts of the authorities in ensuring a sacred and peaceful pilgrimage experience.
