Bhubaneswar: Senior Advocate, Orissa High Court, Pitambar Acharya has been appointed the new Advocate General of Odisha with immediate effect.
The Department of Law has brought a notification in this regard.
“In pursuance of Clause (1) of the Article 165 of the Constitution of India, the Governor of Odisha is pleased to appoint Sri Pitambar Acharya, Senior Advocate, High Court of Orissa to be the Advocate General for the State of Odisha with immediate effect,” read the notification.
Shri Acharya will be the first AG of the BJP Government. He has successfully handled many high-profile cases in the HC for the BJP and renowned personalities of the State.
After BJD lost the poll in the recently held Assembly elections, the last AG Ashok Kumar Parija had resigned from the post. Since then, the post was lying vacant.
