New Delhi: Odisha took a massive step toward becoming India’s next major technology, electronics, and semiconductor destination following a landmark announcement by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at SEMICON India 2026. Additional Chief Secretary for Energy, Electronics, and IT Shri Vishal Dev welcomed Honorable Chief Minister.
The state government revealed plans to construct Odisha Silicon Valley across 870 acres in Naraj, near Cuttack. The integrated complex will unite IT software services, high-tech electronics production, and semiconductor research within a single high-tech ecosystem.
The high-level delegation from Odisha, led by Chief Minister Majhi alongside Additional Chief Secretary for Energy, Electronics, and IT Shri Vishal Dev, gathered substantial momentum during executive discussions in New Delhi. State leaders secured investment proposals totaling 23,600 crore rupees, which are projected to generate over 6,100 specialized jobs in engineering, research, and technical software sectors.
A major milestone of the event was the formal execution of a Letter of Intent signed with QuadQuantum to build a facility dedicated to manufacturing Silicon Carbide substrate wafers. In addition, state delegates engaged in strategic meetings with global industry leaders, including Lam Research, Applied Materials, SiCSem, 3D Glass Solutions, Cyient, Linde, and HORIBA India. Industry representatives and official delegations from Taiwan, Japan, and Sweden held talks to explore shared innovation opportunities and supply chain integrations.
The Odisha Pavilion showcased the state’s expanding high-tech capabilities, featuring products from enterprises such as RIR Power, SiCSem, 3DGS, and ARF Design, alongside groundbreaking research projects from academic partners. With the establishment of Odisha Silicon Valley, the region is positioning itself as a primary driver of digital transformation, hardware fabrication, and advanced information technology in eastern India.
