Odisha CM Launches UAE Investment Drive

ABU DHABI – Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has arrived in Abu Dhabi to officially launch the state’s high-level investment outreach campaign across the United Arab Emirates. Upon arrival in Abu Dhabi, the delegation was received by Shri Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Industries,and I&PR alongside officials from the UAE and representatives from the Embassy of India.

The initiative, spanning core engagements from September 9 to September 11, aims to fortify economic ties, attract foreign direct investment, and establish strategic partnerships across key sectors including manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, and emerging industries. The delegation is scheduled to return to India on September 12.

Accompanying the Chief Minister in the high-level delegation are State Minister for Industries Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, Chief Secretary Shrimati Anu Garg, and senior officials from the Industries Department and IPICOL.

Following his arrival, Chief Minister Shri Majhi reviewed preparations for the upcoming investor meetings to ensure maximum efficacy during discussions with UAE-based institutions, funds, and business leaders.

During initial interactions, Chief Minister Shri Majhi engaged with the Ambassador of India to the UAE to explore avenues for deepening bilateral economic ties and fostering stronger people-to-people connections. Recognizing the Odia diaspora in the UAE as a critical bridge between the two regions, the Chief Minister highlighted ongoing state commitment to supporting the community and enhancing ease of living for non-resident Odias.

The investment drive focuses on creating tangible industrial partnerships, technological collaborations, and value-added manufacturing opportunities in Odisha. The delegation is showcasing Odisha’s core advantages, including rich natural resources, robust industrial parks, port-led infrastructure, affordable power supply, skilled labor, and seamless connectivity to domestic and international markets.

Highlighting the vision behind the trip, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi stated that Odisha has entered a new phase of industrial transformation, with UAE discussions forming a pivotal part of this trajectory. He emphasized that the goal extends beyond inviting capital to building long-term partnerships grounded in trust, technology integration, value creation, and employment generation. The state aims to position Odisha as a preferred, highly competitive global destination for sustainable industrial growth.

The official schedule for September 9 features high-level business discussions in Abu Dhabi. Planned engagements include meetings with International Holding Company (IHC) and its subsidiaries, the Indian Business and Professional Group (IBPG), the UAE Minister of Investment, and major institutional investor groups. Dedicated sessions will also address target opportunities within the chemicals and petrochemicals sectors.

This outreach marks a major initiative in Odisha’s broader strategy to expand economic engagement across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. By translating investor interest into active projects, the state government intends to accelerate long-term industrialization and economic growth.
