Berhampur: Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi launched the implementation of a special Rehabilitation and Resettlement package for the displaced residents of the Golabandha and Cheligada projects during a special ceremony held at Golabandha in the Ganjam district, while also distributing permanent land pattas to beneficiaries.
Under this special package, eligible displaced families of Golabandha are receiving one-time financial compensation directly through Direct Benefit Transfer, along with provisions for constructing houses under housing schemes. Similarly, families affected by the Cheligada medium irrigation project have been rehabilitated at Santarapur under the Digapahandi tahsil, receiving permanent ownership pattas for homestead and agricultural land.
Comprehensive civic infrastructure is being developed at the new Kirtipur rehabilitation colony, including all-weather paved roads, street lighting, an Anganwadi center, commercial spaces, a cyclone shelter, and beach leveling facilities to securely anchor fishermen’s boats.
To strengthen the state’s maritime economy, proactive steps are underway to renovate the Aryapalli fishing harbor, establish a fish landing center, expand the Gopalpur port, and construct a new mega port at Bahuda. Furthermore, with new investments flowing into the Gopalpur industrial region expected to generate extensive employment opportunities across the state over the next two years, local youths have been advised to proactively enhance their skill sets.
