Bhubaneswar: In a meaningful gesture of solidarity and institutional support, Director General of Anti-Naxal Operations Shri Sanjeeb Panda handed over a financial assistance check of Rs.6.55 Lakh to Srimati Urmila Martha, the wife of late Homeguard Pradeep Kumar Martha.
The assistance package was mobilized through contributions from the State’s IPS officers.
The presentation ceremony took place at the Anti Naxal Operations Headquarters, where DGP Shri Sanjeeb Panda handed over the check in the presence of Inspector General of Police (Operations) Dr.Deepak Kumar.
Late Homeguard Pradeep Kumar Martha, who was posted at the IPS Mess in Bhubaneswar, passed away on April 24, 2026, while undergoing treatment at Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar.

The gesture marks the latest step in ongoing welfare measures extended by Odisha Police and affiliated bodies to support the bereaved family:
- On June 17, 2026, Chief Minister’s Relief Fund provided financial relief of Rs.4 Lakh to Srimati Urmila Martha.
- On June 18, 2026, President of the Retired IPS Officers Association Shri L.C. Amarnathan presented a check of Rs.1,12,500.
- On August 15, 2026, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissionerate formally provided an appointment to Srimati Urmila Martha as a Homeguard.
Under the leadership of DGP Shri Sanjeeb Panda, who oversees crucial anti-Naxal strategy and specialized forces, the police administration emphasized that such initiatives demonstrate the force’s commitment to standing by its personnel and their families.
