Bhubaneswar: The fifth edition of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has officially commenced, marking a massive nationwide celebration leading up to Independence Day. Shri Bijaya Ketan Upadhyaya, Secretary Odia Language, Literature and Culture has reviewed the program here on 9 August.
As part of the extensive preparations for this year’s initiative, authorities have outlined plans for the distribution of 60 lakh national flags to encourage widespread public participation. To support the logistics, promotional activities, and public outreach of the massive drive, a total expenditure of 15 crore has been allocated through the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department.
Running from August 9 through August 17, the campaign aims to transition the display of the national flag from formal government spaces into a personal symbol of pride for every household. This year’s observance holds special significance as it coincides with programs dedicated to the spirit of Vande Mataram. State governments, local administrations, and educational institutions are actively coordinating distribution drives to ensure flags reach citizens across urban centers and rural villages alike.
Authorities have emphasized that the campaign relies heavily on public involvement, or Jan Bhagidari, urging citizens to hoist the Tiranga at their homes and workplaces.
Participants are also encouraged to upload their selfies with the national flag onto the official Har Ghar Tiranga portal to receive participation certificates. Officials have reminded the public to adhere strictly to the Flag Code of India, promoting the use of cloth flags and ensuring the dignity of the national emblem is maintained throughout the celebrations.
