Bhubaneswar: In response to recent flooding, the State Government has prioritized maintaining a seamless supply chain and ensuring the easy availability of essential commodities across all affected districts.
To streamline relief efforts and stabilize market prices, the Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare convened a high-level review meeting to enforce strict monitoring, step up enforcement actions, and expedite the distribution of ration quotas to vulnerable populations.
The review meeting on maintaining the supply chain and availability of essential commodities in flood-affected districts was chaired by Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department.
Held in the departmental conference hall based on instructions from Departmental Minister Shri Krushna Chandra Patra, the session focused on critical relief measures and distribution timelines.
During the meeting, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh highlighted key directions for district officials: Ensuring the uninterrupted supply and smooth availability of essential items in flood-impacted areas to support affected populations. Strictly monitoring and controlling the price rise of essential goods to prevent hoarding and artificial inflation. Directing supply officers to stay vigilant, take immediate action on public complaints, and step up enforcement raids against malpractices where necessary.
Enforcing a strict deadline of August 15 for the complete lifting and distribution of various pending allocations, including rice under the Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana for April to June, National and State Food Security Schemes alongside Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana rice quotas for July and August, and kerosene quotas for July to September.
Through these directives, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh emphasized time-bound action and proactive oversight to protect consumer interests and guarantee food security across all vulnerable regions.
