Gurugram: A new temple dedicated to Shree Jagannatha, Shree Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Shree Sudarshan was consecrated at Sai Ka Aangan in Gurugram during a two-day ceremony held on 22-23 July 22.
The rituals, performed in accordance with Vedic traditions under the guidance of renowned spiritual leader Dr. Chandra Bhanu Satpathy, drew hundreds of devotees from Gurugram, Delhi-NCR, Odisha and neighbouring regions.
BJP Odisha President and Rajya Sabha Member Shri Manmohan Samal and and RS MP Shri Debashis Samantaray attended the ceremony.
The consecration marks a significant milestone for Sai Ka Aangan, where the annual Shri Jagannatha Rath Yatra has been organised for the past three years under the guidance of Dr. Satpathy. With growing participation and devotion, the organisers decided to establish a permanent temple for the deities within the Sai Ka Aangan premises.
The ceremony began on Wednesday with the traditional Purva Puja and Adhivasa rituals. On Thursday morning, devotees participated in a Kalash Yatra, followed by an elaborate Vedic Yajna, during which the Purna Ahuti was offered by Dr. Satpathy.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the sacred Chakshudaan ritual, performed by Dr. Satpathy, through which divine vision is ceremonially invoked in the consecrated idols. In the evening, the idols of Lord Jagannatha, Lord Balabhadraa, Devi Subhadra and Shree Sudarshan were taken in a grand procession around the temple premises before being installed in the newly built shrine according to traditional Vedic rites.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Satpathy said that Shri Jagannatha Puri, one of the four sacred Dhams of India, has been a centre of spiritual pilgrimage since ancient times. He noted that great spiritual personalities, including Guru Nanak Dev, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and the Assamese saint Sankardev, had visited Puri to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannatha.
Dr. Satpathy, a noted spiritual thinker, author and humanitarian, has been instrumental in promoting Odia traditions and Jagannath culture across India and abroad. Under his guidance, Jagannatha Rath Jatras have been organised in Gurugram, Noida, Bareilly, Dallas in the United States and several other cities. Through these initiatives, he has sought to spread Lord Jagannath’s message of love, service, equality, harmony and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the philosophy that the entire world is one family.
The programme concluded with the evening Aarti and Prasad Seva.The event was organised by the Sai Ka Aangan family in association with the CBS Cultural Foundation.
Messages conveying greetings and best wishes were received from Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister Shri K.V. Singh Deo,Leader of Opposition Shri Naveen Patnaik, Law Minister Shri Prithviraj Harichandan, Higher Education Minister Shri Suryabanshi Suraj.
They congratulated the organisers and described the temple’s establishment as an important step towards preserving and promoting Odisha’s spiritual and cultural heritage while strengthening the global outreach of Lord Jagannatha’s universal message.
