Nuapada: Emphasizing the feasibility of establishing a spring-shed development project at the scenic Godhas waterfall, Shri Subrat Kumar Panda, the Director of Soil Conservation and Watershed Development, Government of Odisha, concluded a key two-day official visit to Nuapada district to review agricultural development, soil conservation, and water management initiatives.

During his visit, a comprehensive review meeting was held at the District Collectorate conference hall in the presence of Nuapada District Collector Shri Madhusudan Dash. The meeting, attended by all departmental officers and field staff, focused on assessing the progress, implementation quality, and ground-level impact of ongoing watershed development and soil conservation programs. Director Panda provided necessary guidance to field officers to ensure that benefits reach farmers efficiently, while the District Collector emphasized the timely and welfare-oriented execution of these projects.

Following the review, the Director and the District Collector visited Beisumundhi village under the Sarabang Panchayat in Nuapada block. There, they inspected a mango orchard developed by a local farmer, Anandaram Patel. The officials participated in planting mango saplings and held detailed discussions on how integrating systematic soil conservation and efficient water management techniques can significantly boost horticultural prospects and raise farmers’ incomes in the region.

The delegation also visited the natural site of Godhas waterfall located in Loda village under the Bhurshamundhi Panchayat. Assessing the area’s geography, Director Shri Panda emphasized the feasibility of establishing a spring-shed development project. He advised local officials to formulate plans for a spring-shed program at the site to harvest natural spring water, recharge depleted groundwater resources, and promote sustainable irrigation solutions for nearby agricultural lands.

The visit, which also saw the participation of Shri Santosh Kumar, Project Director of Watershed, Nuapada, along with other field staff, is expected to give a major push to ecological restoration and climate-resilient farming practices in the district.
