Governor Visits Jirang Monastery

Chandragiri: Governor of Odisha, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, on Monday visited the serene Buddhist Monastery located at Jirang in Gajapati district.

During his visit, the Governor offered prayers to Lord Buddha, seeking global peace, prosperity, and the well-being of all. He was warmly welcomed upon his arrival by Guru HE Jigme Rinpoche, Chief of Padma Sambhava Mahavihara.

Monks, spiritual leaders, and local residents gathered to greet the Governor during this auspicious occasion. Taking the time to connect with the local community, the Governor interacted closely with the monastery members and residents, listening attentively to their feedback and community needs.

Shri Khenpo Pema Tenphel, a prominent personality of the Jirang Monastery, also provided the Governor with a detailed briefing on the history and spiritual activities of the institution.

Reflecting on his personal connection to Buddhist heritage, the Governor fondly recalled his past role in bringing the sacred relics of Lord Buddha from Vietnam to India, noting that this particular visit held immense personal and spiritual significance for him.

He commended the resident monks for their deep devotion, compassion, harmony, and steadfast commitment to spiritual knowledge.

Emphasizing the importance of the monastery, the Governor praised its vital role in fostering peace, promoting cultural understanding, and preserving the timeless teachings of Lord Buddha.

He remarked that the dedication of the monks to keeping Buddha’s message alive is truly inspiring for future generations.

Earlier in the morning, the Governor participated in the Mahayajna rituals of the Mahendragiri Mela, held at the sacred Mahendragiri hills in Gajapati district. He visited the historic Kunti Temple situated on the mountain to offer his prayers.

Describing Mahendragiri as an enduring symbol of the spiritual legacy of Odisha, the Governor stated that the sacred mountain has consistently nurtured faith, devotion, and unity across generations.

The spiritual events were attended by several high-ranking dignitaries, including the Honorable Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, Shri Suresh Pujari, and the Honorable Minister of Commerce, Transport, Steel and Mines, Shri Bibhuti Bhushan Jena.
