Bhubaneswar: The modernization of the transport system and a renewed focus on road safety took center stage at an event held recently at Kharavela Bhawan for promoted Indian Police Service officers.
The session served as a platform for senior officials to outline the strategic roadmap for enhancing the state’s transit infrastructure and improving public safety on the roads.
Principal Secretary of Commerce and Transport, Shri N.B.S. Rajput, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of integrating technology into existing transport frameworks.
He highlighted that modernization is not merely about new vehicles but involves the implementation of intelligent traffic management systems and data-driven policy making.
Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur, who is widely recognized for his proactive approach toward enforcement, also shared his insights with the newly promoted officers.
Shri Thakur stressed the necessity of rigorous enforcement drives to curb traffic violations and reduce the incidence of road accidents. He pointed out that consistent monitoring and the strict application of transport laws are essential components in fostering a culture of road discipline among the public.
