SJTA Chief Reviews Rath Nirman

Puri: As the sacred sounds of the temple bells resonated through the air on this Tuesday morning, the divine preparations for the world-renowned Ratha Nirman (construction) program reached a significant milestone.

At 11:30 AM in the hallowed conference hall of the Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Chief Administrator, convened a solemn assembly with the dedicated custodians of the holy tradition, including the Chief Maharana, Kamara, Rupakara, and Bhoi Sardars.

The atmosphere was thick with spiritual fervor as the servitors shared that the chariot construction is progressing in strict adherence to age-old Vedic traditions, ensuring that the earthly vehicles for Lord Jagannatha, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra are crafted with the utmost sanctity.

Witnessing the tireless devotion of the craftsmen, the Chief Administrator expressed his profound satisfaction with the progress. Recognizing the wooden structures as divine extensions of the deities themselves, SJTA Chief, Dr. Padhee issued specific guidance to protect the sacred Ratha components from the scorching summer sun, treating the timber with the same care one would offer to the deities.

He emphasized the sacred duty of procuring the holy ropes and other essential materials well in advance, ensuring that no worldly delay hinders the Lord’s journey.

With a call for vigilance, he urged the construction committee to perform regular pilgrimages to the Ratha Khala, maintaining a flawless process so that the chariots remain perfect vessels for the Supreme Lord’s annual journey among his devotees.
