Anugraha Das; New DGCA

New Delhi: Shri Anugraha Narayana Das, a distinguished officer of the 1991 batch of the Indian Defence Accounts Service, has officially taken over as the Controller General of Defence Accounts on May 1, 2026.

This appointment marks a significant milestone for the Odia community, as he brings over thirty years of specialized expertise in public service and defence financial management to this apex role.

The academic foundation of Shri Das is rooted in Odisha, where he graduated from Utkal University in Bhubaneswar. He later expanded his academic horizons at the ICPE, University of Ljubljana in Slovenia.

Throughout his career, he has consistently refined his leadership skills through advanced training at prestigious global institutions such as Duke University and IIM Bengaluru.

His professional journey is characterized by a series of high-impact roles across various sectors of the Indian government. He has served as a Director in the Ministry of Water Resources and held the dual responsibility of Additional Financial Adviser and Joint Secretary within the Ministry of Defence.

His deep understanding of military financial structures was further cemented during his tenure as the Principal Integrated Financial Adviser at Army Headquarters and as the Special Controller General of Defence Accounts.

In his new capacity as the CGDA, Shri Das is expected to leverage his extensive background in procurement policy, audit oversight, and expenditure monitoring.

His career has been defined by a commitment to improving budgeting mechanisms and enhancing financial transparency within the defence sector.

As he assumes leadership of the Defence Accounts Department, his vast experience in field formations and service headquarters will be instrumental in guiding the financial administration of India’s armed forces.
