Bhubaneswar: The primary focus of the virtual discussion was the consistent delivery of fuel to consumers, ensuring that the supply of petroleum products and gas remains uninterrupted across the nation.
During the high-level review meeting, which included participation from Odisha’s Chief Secretary Shrimati Anu Garg and Principal Secretary of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas addressed current logistics and distribution strategies.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas categorically states that India’s petroleum and LPG supply situation is fully secure and under control. All retail fuel outlets have enough supplies.
There is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG anywhere in the country. The Ministry calls upon citizens not to be misled by a deliberately mischievous, coordinated campaign of misinformation that is being carried out to spread unjustified panic.
Despite the situation at the Strait of Hormuz, India is today receiving more crude oil from its 41-plus suppliers across the world than what was previously arriving through the Straits.
High volumes available in international markets — especially from the western hemisphere — have more than compensated for any disruption. Every Indian refinery is running at over 100% utilization. Crude oil supplies for next 60 days have already been tied up by Indian Oil companies. There is NO supply gap.
To maintain stability, authorities have prioritized the supply of PNG over LPG for commercial use and instructed state administrations to invoke the Essential Commodities Act to prevent hoarding and black marketing.
Furthermore, the public has been urged not to engage in panic buying, while 24-hour control rooms have been established at both district and state levels to monitor the situation and provide daily updates to ensure transparency and consumer confidence.
