Bhubaneswar: Odisha Farmers get Rs. 22,337 crore for paddy as the 2025-26 Kharif procurement season in Odisha scripts a major success story for the state’s agricultural community.
This massive financial infusion, comprising both the Minimum Support Price and input assistance, has been credited directly into the bank accounts of 18,11,988 farmers who participated in the procurement process this year.
To maintain this momentum, the Principal Secretary of Works, Food, Supply and Consumer Welfare, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh has reviewed the progress with senior department officials.
The meeting focused on easing field-level bottlenecks and ensuring that the final stages of paddy collection remain smooth and hassle-free for every farmer reaching the mandis.
The state has witnessed a significant milestone with approximately 75,20,212 metric tonnes of paddy already procured out of the 75,45,381 metric tonnes that arrived at various mandis. This achievement marks a steady upward trajectory in Odisha’s productivity, showing an increase of over 16 lakh metric tonnes compared to the 2023-24 cycle.
Bargarh district has emerged as the leader in this successful drive, recording 7,69,838 metric tonnes in procurement, followed closely by Kalahandi, Ganjam, and Subarnapur.
The paddy procurement process for the 2025-26 Kharif season in Odisha has successfully entered its final phase, bringing significant financial relief and stability to the farming community across the state.
As of today, official records show that 75,20,212 metric tonnes of paddy have been procured from a total of 75,45,381 metric tonnes that arrived at various mandis. This massive operation has directly benefited 18,11,988 farmers who have successfully sold their produce through the government system.
A major highlight for participating farmers this season is the efficient disbursement of funds. A total of 22,337.60 crore has already been paid out to farmers, covering both the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and additional input assistance.
To ensure transparency and prevent delays, the state government has confirmed that all these payments are being credited directly into the bank accounts of the farmers, providing them with the necessary capital for their next cropping cycle.
District-wise reports indicate that Bargarh remains the top performer in supporting its agricultural base, with 7,69,838 metric tonnes procured. Other key districts contributing to the state’s food security include Kalahandi with 6,43,178 metric tonnes, Ganjam with 5,58,012 metric tonnes, and Subarnapur with 3,79,045 metric tonnes.
Out of the collected stock, millers have already lifted approximately 73,46,226 metric tonnes, ensuring that procurement centers remain clear for remaining arrivals.
The steady growth in Odisha’s agricultural productivity is evident when comparing the last few years. Procurement has risen from 58,03,664 metric tonnes in 2023-24 to 74,92,893 metric tonnes in the current cycle, marking an increase of over 16 lakh metric tonnes in just two years.
This upward trend reflects the growing trust farmers have in the state’s procurement mechanism and the overall health of the rural economy.
