Mining Expo Drives Growth

Bhubaneswar: The first edition of the CII Odisha Mining and Construction Equipment Expo (OMCE) 2026 commenced today in Bhubaneswar, marked by an inauguration ceremony led by Shri Hemant Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary for the Department of Home, Industries, and I&PR, Government of Odisha.

He was joined by Shri Thiagarajan, Chairman of the CII Trade Fair Council, and Shri Anil Kumar Singh, Chairman of the CII Odisha State Council. The event represents a major development for the mining and construction equipment sectors within Eastern India.

Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry, the three-day expo is designed to unite industry stakeholders to showcase technological innovation and promote sustainable growth.

The opening ceremony included notable industry figures such as SNM Group Chairman Dr.Pradipta Kumar Mohanty, SNM Group Managing Director Dr. Prabodh Kumar Mohanty.

After the formal opening, dignitaries toured the exhibition to view live demonstrations of advanced machinery and innovative solutions from both Indian and international companies.

The proceedings continued with an exclusive CEOs Roundtable chaired by ACS Shri Hemant Sharma. During the session, the Additional Chief Secretary emphasized the state government’s dedication to building a supportive ecosystem for industrial investment. He commended the Confederation of Indian Industry for creating a focused B2B platform that connects manufacturers with policymakers and end-users.

The roundtable provided a forum for leaders to discuss industry challenges, policy support, and the adoption of new technologies. Primary topics of discussion included enhancing the ease of doing business, implementing sustainable mining practices, advancing skill development, and accelerating infrastructure growth.

OMCE 2026 has attracted more than 150 exhibitors and is expected to draw over 10,000 business visitors. The event features a diverse range of equipment and technologies relevant to the mining and infrastructure sectors. It is also being held alongside the Odisha Metal Expo 2026, which integrates stakeholders from the metals and allied industries into the platform.

The expo will proceed over the next two days with a schedule of technical sessions, networking opportunities, and meetings between businesses and government representatives. By focusing on technology-driven and sustainable practices, OMCE 2026 aims to solidify Odisha’s status as a central hub for industrial and infrastructure development.
