Bhubaneswar: As summer conditions intensify across Odisha, the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning for heatwave conditions in isolated pockets of Jharsuguda and Sambalpur on March 14, 2026.
The latest bulletin indicates a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius across East India over the next 24 hours.
While the western districts face scorching heat with Jharsuguda recording 40.6 degrees Celsius, a trough is expected to trigger thunderstorms and gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph in several districts including Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar, which may eventually lead to a temperature fall of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius starting March 15.
The high-altitude regions and hilltops are experiencing significant temperature fluctuations. On the hilltops, Deomali in Koraput currently records 28 degrees Celsius with an expected high of 31 degrees Celsius, while Meghasani in Mayurbhanj stands at 31 degrees Celsius with a forecast maximum of 32 degrees Celsius.
