Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to strengthen the forensic infrastructure in the state, the Government of Odisha has introduced 15 mobile forensic vans in the first phase of a larger deployment plan.
These vans were officially inaugurated and flagged off today by Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Smt. Pravati Parida.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Law Minister Shri Prithviraj Harichandan, Chief Secretary Smt. Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home, Industry and I&PR, Shri Hemant Sharma, Special Secretary Home Shri Radha Kishan Sharma and Director General of Police Shri Yogesh Bahadur Khurania.
Under the initiative of the Government of India to bolster forensic capabilities across the country, a total of 36 mobile forensic vans have been approved for the state. The procurement process for these specialized vehicles was facilitated through the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Gujarat. Each van is equipped with modern forensic kits and advanced scientific instruments designed to enable immediate scientific examination directly at the scene of a crime.
The deployment of these mobile units is expected to revolutionize the investigation process by ensuring the timely collection and preservation of evidence. By bringing laboratory-grade tools to the field, the state aims to enhance the accuracy of scientific investigations and expedite the delivery of justice.
